American Bank Adds Private Banking Team to San Antonio Market

November 16, 2023

Corpus Christi-based American Bank recently added a four-person private banking team to its growing San Antonio presence. The new team—Jerry Daniel, Jeff Hawthorn, Anthony Perez and Diana Cervantes—will office out of American Bank’s San Antonio branch at 12800 San Pedro Ave. They will report to Byron Bexley, vice chairman for San Antonio.

“This team of bankers has a proven track record of delivering a white-glove client experience and helping clients reach their banking and wealth management goals,” says Donette Stubblefield, chief banking executive— commercial and wealth.

Jerome DanielJoining American Bank as a senior private banker, Gerardo “Jerry” Daniel brings nearly 40 years of banking experience. During his banking career, he has managed both sides of the balance sheet for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families and business owners. Most recently, he served as a private banker for Third Coast Bank in San Antonio. Prior to that, he spent nine years as a private banker with BBVA’s global wealth management team in San Antonio. Daniel worked with Bank of America and Merrill Lynch earlier in his career. He holds his series 6, 63, 65 and 7 licenses through the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and also carries a Texas insurance license for group 1 (life and health). Daniel is active in the San Antonio community, volunteering with the Catholic Youth Organization, San Antonio Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity and Junior Achievement.

Jeff HawthornJeff Hawthorn joins American Bank as a senior private banker and brings nearly three decades of experience in all areas of banking, including teller, personal banker, regional manager and private banker. Most recently, Hawthorn was a private banker with Third Coast Bank in San Antonio where he helped build a private wealth management platform from the ground up. Prior to that, he served as a private banker with BBVA’s global wealth management team in San Antonio. Earlier in his career, he served in various roles with Bank of America and Merrill Lynch. Hawthorn earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and he carries several FINRA licenses, including series 6, 63, 66, 7 and 24. He also has a Texas insurance license for general lines and group 1. Hawthorn serves the San Antonio community through multiple organizations, including Youth Code Jam, Alamo Angels and Jaguar Pride Association.

nameAs a 20-year financial services professional, Anthony Perez has prioritized building long-lasting relationships with high-net-worth clients. At American Bank, he will serve his clients as a private banker. Before joining American Bank, Perez worked with Third Coast Bank as a private banking operations manager and, prior to that, he served in various roles with BBVA’s commercial banking and global wealth teams. Earlier in his career, Perez was a senior personal banker with Bank of America. He holds his group 1 Texas insurance license and is a graduate of Palo Alto College in San Antonio. Perez serves within the San Antonio community with Habitat for Humanity, San Antonio Food Bank, Haven for Hope and other nonprofit organizations.

nameWith more than 30 years of banking experience, Diana Cervantes joins American Bank as a loan administrative assistant for private banking. She specializes in helping the private banking team deliver exceptional client services to high-net-worth individuals, families and business owners. Cervantes joins American Bank after spending several years with Third Coast Bank in San Antonio where she was a private client associate. Before that, she spent 16 years with BBVA and seven years with Washington Mutual Bank.

Established in 1970, American Bank has 19 locations in San Antonio, New Braunfels, Austin, Houston, Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Rockport, Goliad and Victoria.
