Community Bankers Invited to Develop Leadership Skills at Upcoming IBAT EDGE

March 2, 2023

The Education Foundation of the Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT) is gearing up for the debut of IBAT EDGE, a new program that offers two-and-a-half days of education, renowned industry keynote speakers and leadership development training focused on community banks in Texas. The goal is to Educate, Develop, Guide and Empower (EDGE) community bank employees. The inaugural event is being held April 4–6 at the Waco Convention Center in downtown Waco. IBAT is replacing several of its annual summits with EDGE so that community bankers can streamline and simplify their continuing education and training needs.

IBAT EDGE 2023 will feature six educational tracks with 48 breakout sessions hosted over two days. The tracks will focus on compliance, credit/lending, emerging technology, information security, operations and strategy.

Two keynote speakers have been selected for the event: Rebeca Romero Rainey and Dr. Andy Neillie.

A native of Taos, New Mexico, Romero Rainey is a third-generation community banker, formerly serving as chair and CEO of Centinel Bank of Taos. She currently serves as president and CEO of the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), fiercely advocating for community banks on a national level and urging lawmakers for regulatory reforms. During EDGE, she will discuss her journey to lead ICBA as well as best practices she has used in her own leadership and development.

Neillie, founder of the Neillie Leadership Group and author of the bestselling book, The Golden Principles, will address leadership lessons he has learned from his rescued golden retriever, Redford. Based on his background in management and sales, his keynote will focus on trust, time and teamwork. Neillie will also present a leadership and management deep-dive session, “The Four Leadership Necessities: Moving From Management to Leadership.” During the deep-dive, he will introduce a practical, straightforward approach to leadership that is fundamental to growth and effectiveness. The insights he will share come from real-life lessons and apply to real-life situations.

IBAT has secured small blocks at Hilton Waco, Courtyard by Marriott Waco and Aloft Waco Baylor as accommodations for the event. Registration for EDGE is $750 for the first attendee and $650 for each additional attendee from the same bank/company. Click here to download a PDF with details about the event.
